Best of BBQ
This area is best known for two things - horses and BBQ. Harmon Field in Tryon is home to the Blue Ridge BBQ and Music Festival. This annual weekend festival, held in June, takes BBQ seriously! It's the Official North Carolina State Championship BBQ Cookoff and is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. While more than 90 teams grill and smoke the days away, thousands of attendees spend their time eating, shopping and enjoying the live music and great mountain scenery.
If you can't make it to Tryon on that weekend, you won't miss out. Both Columbus and Saluda have great BBQ restaurants that will satisfy your cravings year round. One was even a BBQ festival competitor that loved it so much, they decided to make it their own business!
